St. George Island Packing List

Florida’s Forgotten Coast is situated along the Gulf of Mexico and Apalachicola Bay. Along with the mainland areas of Carrabelle, Port St. Joe, and Eastpoint, the Apalachicola region of the Florida Panhandle is made up of barrier islands, extending from the peninsulas of Alligator Point to Cape San Blas. There are 250 miles of shoreline in Franklin County, and more than 20 miles of those white sand beaches cover St. George Island.

The best way to take advantage of our destination is to plan for the traditional beach vacation, because you’re never very far from the shoreline! Beachfront and bayside eateries keep you in that island state of mind from breakfast through dinner (and beyond), and our waterways provide epic “Old Florida” adventures any time of year. From spring break through the winter holidays, natural recreation abounds on the island. We have plenty of local outfitters ready to supply you with all the essential beach gear, including beach chairs and beach carts as well as rental equipment like kayaks and paddleboards to get you out on the water.

All of our St. George Island vacation rentals are equipped with an initial supply of the basic home essentials: kitchen trash bag, a roll of paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, and dish towels. If you need more of these items during your stay, local grocery stores should meet all of your additional needs. Your vacation home will likely have direct beach access, or easy access from a nearby boardwalk. Many of our properties also offer private pools, hot tubs or use of community swimming pools. So be sure to plan for plenty of swimming, as well as shelling on the legendary Gulf beaches. If you’re taking advantage of one of our pet-friendly beach houses, make sure to pack anything that your furry friend may need to feel at home and take advantage of some time on the sun-drenched Florida beaches.

Some might say that all you need for the perfect beach getaway is sunshine. While that’s certainly a good start, there may be a few more things you want to bring along on your next St. George Island vacation. The sunshine is already here waiting for you, so we have that part covered.
