PERFECT!

Sunflower 1 was absolutely perfect for us! It’s difficult to find one bedroom rentals on the beach, and we’d had our eye on this property for years before we were finally able to make the trip. We were not disappointed!!! (I have a habit of building things up so much before-hand that I was concerned maybe I would be let down.) Not only was our week as good as we’d hoped, it was BETTER!! Sunflower 1 is exactly as it appears in pictures, but pictures don’t let you feel the cool breeze, hear the ocean, or enjoy the panoramic view of a mostly empty beach for as far as the eye can see! Granted that almost all beach rentals have steps to climb, once you have all your stuff hauled up the stairs, you’re done with hard work for the week. Sunflower 1 had recently been acquired by Fickling Management Co., and they had worked hard to make sure everything was perfect for us! The unit was clean, the kitchen was well-stocked, the furniture was comfortable and the towels were clean and soft. All appliances are new, and worked perfectly! The fridge had plenty of room for us to get all stocked up from the local store, and we rarely had to leave our our new home. Bring a handful of coffee filters and your own beach towels, and you’ll be all set to enjoy some quiet beach time. I enjoyed more than one glass of wine while sitting outside watching dolphins play and birds fish. And at night, the view of the stars is AMAZING!! Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular from Sunflower, but if you walk over to the bay side to catch a sunset you will not be disappointed! We had our Border Collie with us, and he had an even better time than we did! He LOVED the beach! (Note – we were glad we had Pepto with us, as biting at the waves and/or drinking ocean water can give a pup loose stools.) One baby gate was supplied, and we had another with us, so we blocked off the steps to the beach and the steps to the car so Jake was able to go in and out of the unit without us worrying about where he was. The street(s) around Sunflower are lightly traveled and are perfect for walks. Sunflower has a hose attached to the shower on the walkway to/from the beach, so it was easy to rinse the sand and salt off Jake at the same time that we rinsed our own feet. No one was downstairs or in Sunflower 2 during our stay, but our stay would have been equally as enjoyable if we’d had to share with another nice couple. The house would be perfect for couples that want to travel together but who want their own space. Sunflower 1 provided us the intimate, quiet, simple escape we craved. The dog-friendly policy of the unit and the island were huge deciding factors for us, but even without a dog, this should be the go-to escape for anyone looking for a relaxing week on the beach.
