Jet Ski Rental & Riding FAQs

New to the world of jet skis? Check out these frequently asked questions to prepare for your trip!

How much does it cost to rent a jet ski?

The cost of renting a jet ski depends on the length of the rental. In Saint George Island specifically, you can expect to spend between $95 – $425 for one hour to eight hours of ride time, plus applicable taxes and fees.

How many people can ride on a jet ski at one?

Waverunner jet skis can hold between one to four riders at once depending on the size.

How old do you have to be to ride a jet ski?

Watercraft rules vary by state. In Florida, the driver of a jet ski rental must be at least 18 years of age.

What should I wear on a jet ski?

Comfort and security are the only important thing to remember when dressing for a jet ski ride. You’ll want a bathing suit or waterproof clothing that will stay secure while you’re ripping waves. A traditional bathing suit should be fine in the summer and fall, while a wet suit or something with more coverage might be more comfortable in the spring while the water is still a little chilly. You will also be required to wear a life jacket during your ride. And, while it’s not required, we always recommend plenty of sunscreen!

A jet ski isn’t for me—what other water activities are available?

The beautiful St. George Island offers plenty of water fun for everyone. If riding on a jet ski isn’t your cup of tea—don’t worry. Other readily available watersports available on the island include kayak and stand up paddle board rentals, fishing charters, and pontoon boat rentals—to name a few. You can also enjoy more relaxing beach activities like shelling for seashells along the coastline, beach fishing, a bike rental, and a scenic golf cart ride along the coast.

Don’t let the fun stop after your ride is over! Here are a few of our top recommendations on things to do after you return your jet ski rental…

Soak up the sun at the beach. Make the most of your time on the island by planning a full beach day. Pack a picnic lunch, play a few beach games, or bring your favorite book for an afternoon of rest and relaxation shoreside.

Grab a bite to eat. There are several great restaurants on St. George Island, so you won’t have any issue finding a place to kick back and relax after a fun day on the water. The Blue Parrot Cafe is ideally located right next to the Jet Ski Hut, making it a natural spot for a happy hour beverage. Other nearby favorites include Doc Myers’ Island Pub and Beach Pit BBQ.
